New Camera, New Lens, Same Bad Lighting

Ah my first macro shot. Brought to you mostly by the persistence of Darrick, and followed closely by my new toy, the Canon EOS Rebel XSI with the Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro Lens.

This is a quick snap of my chalk back using the on-camera flash. I'm just starting to learn about lighting, and this is my third shot with an SLR. So many fancy settings that I didn't have any control over with my P+S, I'm looking forward to playing around with all of them.

I was going through some of the pictures I've been taking over the past few months and I really like the smoke coming off the end of the cigarette in this one. Thanks to Ned for hosting a fun yet smoky St. Patrick's Day.

Tie Your Shoe!

I have been doing some climbing at http://rockventures.net and wanted to get some pictures. This one is taken from about 25 feet up a 30 foot wall, at the crux of the climb where the wall comes away fairly steeply for a 5 foot long section then comes closer back to vertical after that.

Bill was having trouble keeping his left shoe tied all day. I'm guessing that's why he couldn't make it up this time.
